Richard E. & Deborah L. Tarrant

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Richard E. and Deborah L. Tarrant Foundation.

Important Notice:  Like everyone, we are faced with the extreme challenges of the current economy.  Our assets have declined sharply, just when needs are surging in many critical areas.  While we will continue to pursue an aggressive spending policy - granting more than double the standard amount for foundations our size - we must acknowledge that we have substantially less available than in prior years.  We will do the best we can to meet critical needs.  We know, however, that we will not be able to fulfill the requests of many excellent organizations and programs.  We hope that making this information available now will be helpful to grantseekers in planning and managing the many challenges ahead.

Within the interests of our founders, the mission of the Tarrant Foundation is to create opportunity, help meet basic needs, and improve the lives of people in Vermont.  In all matters, the Foundation's guiding principles are personal and fiscal responsibility.

Programs and organizations supported by the Tarrant Foundation range from small, volunteer-based community initiatives to large institutions.  All have in common a clear mission of service and the ability to maximize the impact of each charitable dollar invested.

The Tarrant Foundation primarily makes grants in the fields of human service and education.

If you are interested in partnering with the Tarrant Foundation, please look at our grant guidelines and instructions, or contact us at (802) 857-0495 or info@tarrantfoundation.org.

"Private giving is the foundation of the civility of our society, and in fact, of our democracy." Rich Tarrant
